Age Group Suicide

The adolescent age group is one of the age groups that are facing a lot of pressure due to peer pressure, stress of life and lack of morals which has made many to give up with life since things are not going the way they expect. According to this age group rate of mortality due to unintentional poisoning has increased by 128% while suicide has increased by 15%. Suicide is ranked first as a cause of injury mortality, followed by motor vehicle traffic crashes. Suicide has surpassed motor vehicle and traffic crashes as the leading cause of mortality. The comprehensive traffic safety measures that have been set in place have successfully reduced the national motor vehicle traffic crash mortality rate. In the adolescent age group in 2012 an there was about1.3 million adolescents who died, this was a bit lower than the figure of 1.5 million in 2000. According to the statistics the mortality rate decreased from 126 to 111 per 100,000 between 2000 and 2012. This modest decline of about 12% continues the trend of the past 50 years. The mortality rates dropped in all regions and for all age groups except 15-19 year old males in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Americas regions. This morbidity and mortality rates can be reduced by offering mentor-ship to the adolescent and providing psychological counseling and even the government has to set aside activities to involve in the youth in order for them to be busy which can reduce this cases. Those who are sick should be provided with appropriate medication in order to improve their health
