The article presentation “Age-Appropriate Secondary Transition Process and Resources” identified and explored identified predictors of positive student outcomes. Those predictors are “skills for postsecondary education and training employment and independent living (Gray, Age-Appropriate Secondary Transition Process and Resources, 2014).” This process usually starts around 9th grade and the first step that the IEP team should take is to gather evidence by using Age-appropriate transition assessments (Gray, Age-Appropriate Secondary Transition Process and Resources, 2014). There comes a time where a child transitions out of school which is a very difficult time especially for someone with special needs. The IEP team is responsible in coordination the process successfully and appropriately. They should not only “Focus on improving he academic and functional achievement of the child” but also “Facilitate movement from school to post-school activities” (Gray, Secondary Transition Services and Annual IEP Goals, 2014). The presentation emphasizes that “Transition services must address the annual IEP goals designated to assist the student in reaching his/her measurable postsecondary goals (Gray, Secondary Transition Services and Annual IEP Goals, 2014).” The goal can’t be something that is clearly unattainable for example a person that is unable to work can’t be an NBA basketball player or someone with the mentally of a ten-year-old can’t be a doctor.
