Perception
The best characteristic that every human being has on this planet, is that we are able to make meaning of every little thing we do. It can either be bad or good but that memory stays with us forever. Perception is that special characteristic. Now according to the textbook communication- making connections it defines perception as “The process of selecting, organizing, and interpreting information to give personal meaning to the communication we receive” (Seiler). The reason why this characteristic is like no other is because every person finds different meaning in every little thing. To one person a There are going to be things that we can perceive and things we cannot. Sometimes a certain scent will give some people an automatic horrific feeling or it could be the best time of their loves. It is all based on their experiences in life. There are many factors that influence a way a person finds meaning in a situation, such as age and your role in society. We try to understand other peoples meaning and how they react to certain situations and in order for us to do that we have to expand our understanding of perception. We have to realize that our life events are not the same as theirs but our knowledge and experiences can help us perceive what they are going through. As you age, your perception will change as well. With age I thought differently about boys, cars, and sports. Growing up I signed up for all the sports that I could. I didn’t care if I was any good, all I cared about was being social and hanging out with my friends. As I grew up though I started to look at my future. I realized I was not going anywhere volleyball or softball. So one year at a time I started to drop a sport until I only focused on one sport because it was going to help with my
