Volunteering at Facility for the Aged and Infirm This semester, which is spring 2017, I have a course called “Global Awareness seminar: migration “ as a part of my student schedule. In this course, I am required to do a service activity. I was given a list with activities that have a related with Global awareness or migration. I had to choose one of those activities. Then, I chose to volunteer at a facility for the aged and infirm. On Monday 13 of March, I visited a facility for the aged and infirm at St. Joseph Villa in Flourtown, PA. The facilities for the aged and infirm offers a place a gives a hand for old people who are abandoned by their families or are now alone without care or service provider. They find themselves in bad health and need for nursing with nobody to do that for them. This service is provided by departments of social affairs. The main reason behind this issue is a social indicator is the significant task in terms of social relations established and the strength and durability of family relations. Unfortunately, a lot of people around the world need to get a hand. For example, Germany faces a serious problem with nursing aged and infirm. It has the biggest number of old people who need for a facility for the aged and infirm which they are around more than 2.4 million. Increasing the number of demand for elderly care services in Germany compared to the lack of human resources in this area. Sometimes, one worker service around thirty because of the lack of worker. In order to involve more worker in the facilities for the aged and infirm, Germany originated many projects to attract immigrants and makes them willing to work in this profession. In contrast, in Saudi Arabia, there is the lowest proportion of elderly people in a nursing home. Actually, I have been in many community services before, but I did not get any benefit from them. By contrasts, I learned a few important points from servicing in the facility for the aged and infirm. First, to become an elderly person and there is around you who wants to take care of your big problem it is a fact. Unfortunately, this problem is highly prevalent around the world until it has become a global issue. Also, there is a relationship between the strength of strong family ties between parents and children. What parents teach their children yesterday, it will be found today. For example, what parents would do with their parents, their children will do the same thing with them. Therefore, religions and habits play a big role to have children care their parents in the old age. For example, I discovered that the most of the guests who live in the facilities for the aged and infirm are Sisters. Those people who have never families.
