Ag-Business At DMACC: Personal Statement Of Purpose

My admiration for farming developed as a young child as I sought to follow in my grandfather’s footsteps. Spending time on the farm with my grandfather made me gain a love for agriculture. If my grandfather had not been there to inspire me I would not have gained the love I have for agriculture, therefore, is the reason why I am pursuing an education in agriculture through DMACC. There are countless traits I have learned through my time at the farm a few examples are that I am hard working and responsible. My passion would have never been achievable without the amount of hard work and some sacrifices financially. Overall, my main objective in life is to flourish in the field that I desire to devote my life to.
Presently, I am studying ag-business at DMACC. It is demanding at times, however, it encourages me motivate myself to set both long term and short term goals. With my busy school schedule, it has taught me how to plan in advance so then I am ready and organized for everything that comes my way. My educational goals are to achieve not only A’s and B’s this semester, but to officially graduate from college with my degree in Ag-Business.

Throughout the spring I worked for a company called Pinnacle. My experience with the company presented me with multiple viewpoints of the agricultural field. I practiced things that I have never done that I did not know existed in the agricultural field. During the summer I had the pleasure to work alongside my grandfather on his farm. My grandfather showed me that there is much more to operating a farm than just doing the labor. It is more than a full time job; it is a lifestyle. I anticipate the opportunity to receive a job a month after I graduate with my degree. It has always been a dream of mine to hopefully build off my grandfather’s farm since he will not be able to continue farming due to old
