A pseudoscience an idea that is an idea that is mistaken for being true or scientific fact. Because it cannot be explained does not mean that it is the supernatural. A pseudoscience topic that should be looked into ghosts and the idea of a life after we are dead. This is such a controversial topic that has left people confused for many centuries, but with the scientific advancements that we have today it’s safe to say there is no such thing. The chapter that stuck out was “Susan Blackmore on Paranormal Research” because it contains an interesting argument against the belief in ghosts. Smith mainly uses logos to create a strong argument against ghost existing. He uses ideas from a prominent scientist named Susan Blackmore to approach the argument in a scientific way. A strong presence in science creates a strong argument because there are studies and experiments that supports the idea that ghost do not exist. For example, Smith states “Noted paranormal researcher Susan Blackmore recounts her lifelong interest in the paranormal. Her account is typical of the handful of highly capable researchers who have actually devoted substantial time and effort to studying paranormal claims” (Smith, 586) to prove to the reader that he has a solid source to back up his claims against ghost. Smith talks about he really wanted to believe in ghost but could not find any scientific find to back it up. His article stated that encounters with ghost are exaggerated and that if scientific reason was applied to the situation the encounter would be explain and be proven to be something else then a paranormal
