Immediately after the shooting I would ensure that all school personal had access to mental health professionals, if needed. School personal would also be provided with educational material directed towards post-traumatic stress and coping mechanisms. Counseling services will be on going for school personal because every individuals’ reaction to a traumatic event cannot be predicted on the timing it will occur, if ever. Next step is restoring the learning environment for the staff and students. Where physical changes will need to be made because of the gravity of the crime, but not so much because it is important to try and keep some of the same furniture, signage, and classroom structure for the students.
