Africa's Schools Don T Make The Grade By Corinna Shuler

Education, the process of receiving or giving systematic instruction, especially at a school or university. The world today revolves around all children going to school and getting an education to take them somewhere in life to provide for themselves. The articles “Africa: The role of higher education,” by Thabo Mbeki, and “Why S. Africa’s Schools Don’t Make The Grade,” by Corinna Schuler, explains to us the problems Africa faces everyday with education. Mbeki brings out the ethos setting within his article by explaining to us how the skills children build gets thrown away because no one is taking action to bring them out. Schuler explains the statistics of school grades and test scores. She explains why testing has not improved and something needs to be done about it and she does this by using logos. The education in Africa is in need and we just need the right people to help. Teachers come to school to help us learn and to teach us the skills we need in our lives. Showing proof how many students are capable of passing an end of the year test, tells us that these students have no one pushing them to do better. According to Corinna Schuler in “Why S. Reading books and practicing that someone else has already done helps. A textbook shows knowledge that multiple scholars have put together for other people to benefit from. According to Thabo Mbeki in “Africa: The role of higher education”(2005) “ Its incomplete collection of books and manuscripts leaves us in no doubt as to the magnificence of its intellectual contribution.” (para. 2) This statement from Mbeki shows how students feel they can not be as smart as everyone knows that they can because of the lack of textbooks. This shows pathos by showing how bitter it is when students rarely have the education they want and when school is in session, they barely learn because there are no
