African Americans have planned protest, rallies, peaceful riots and sit-ins. African Americans would sit in restaurants, movies, churches and other business, until they were allowed to enter through the front door and eat anywhere they liked in the building just like everyone else. Eventually store owners lost so much money that they allowed African Americans the same benefits as the rest. A quote taken from Eric Foner stated that "In the turbulent decade and a half that followed, Civil Rights activists use nonviolent protest and civil disobedience to bring about charge. Finally with the signing of the Civil Rights Act of 1968 segregation was ended". What he is saying is minorities ended segregation in a nonviolent way. There was no fighting, fires or outbreaks everything was done in a responsible and orderly fashion way. For the rallies they held up signs and walked across the town all linked together as a team. When stopped by authority no one threw a punch or talked back. They simply voiced what they were asking for. The peace and determination from the people put an end to segregation in 1968.
