African American slavery has such an humongous history that covers almost every aspect in the world. Things such as jobs, plantations, and slave owners may come to mind. However, most importantly the treatment of the slaves is the most drastic event that consumes slavery as a whole. Treatment is defined as the manner in which someone behaves toward or deals with someone or something. Slavery treatment was based on crude and unusual punishment coming in all different directions. I argue that treatment can be differed based on the relationship a slave has with their master due to a choice of circumstances such as gender, occupation, and residence.

However, in Virginia, the slave owners preferred to have bondservants instead of the indentured servants(Rothbard, par.2). Two of the most important reasons why they wanted bondservants was because they could treat them more brutal than they did their own slaves because of the simple fact that they did not own them permanently. Also, bondservants were looked at as being the most productive ones when it came down to forced labor because they had freedom in their future once they finished their work for the slave owner that was asked of them (Rothbard, par.2). As the slaves begin to come into the new world, they were brought over as forced labor in order just to work on the plantations. Throughout Latin America, slaves were only used to work mainly on the sugar plantations in the West Indies and on the coast of South America (Rothbard, par 18). It is a stated fact that approximately 900,000 negro slaves were brought to the New World during the 16th century(Rothbard, par 18). Negros were thought as being better slaves then the regular Indians for many different reasons in Latin America. One of the reasons were that the Negros had proved themselves worthy to be more adaptable towards the harsh enforced labor unlike the Indians did(Rothbard, par 19). This was a really large affect on why Latin America was on the top of the list for one of the most severe areas that slavery was productive in.
