Rosa Parks was born on February 4, 1914, in Alabama. She was an African-American Civil Rights activist. During fer lifetime, she received many accolades, including the NAACP's highest award (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People). Upon her death in 2005, she was the first woman to lie in honor at the Capitol Rotunda.

Rosa's childhood brought her early experiences with racial discrimination. When she was young, she was taught to read by her mother. After going to school, she met first racial discrimination in her lifetime.
