Age, and over time as different inhabitants began to migrate in, and upgrade the living
in Africa.
There were three major civilizations just before the beginning of the iron age in
sub-saharan africa, which included the San people, Khoi-Khoi people,and the bantu
speaking people. The San people are considered the oldest inhabitants of South Africa.
The San lived in the Stone Age period meaning that they did not use metals, but their
weapons and tools were made of wood, stones and bones.

Great Zimbabwe is an ancient city located in the southern hills of Zimbabwe. This was
the capital of the kingdom of Zimbabwe around the time period of the country’s late iron
age. They started building this monument in the 11th century, and it was not completed
until the 15th century. This area could have been able to keep 18,000 people. Great
Zimbabwe served as a royal palace for local monarch, and was used as the seat for
political power.
Some time during the 400 AD the bantu-speaking ancestors arrived and they started
to build the parts of the stone walls. This monument was made with granite and this
came with very high levels of masonry expertise. Some of this was built with natural
rock formations. The walls were five metres high. They were made without mortar, dry
stone. Eventually, the city was abandoned and fell into ruin, due to overgrazing and
drought, which caused the soil to become worn down and
