A national initiative working to ensure that the health care needs of women, LGBT individuals and their families are addressed as the Affordable Care Act (ACA) is implemented.

Policy Intern
Assist senior staff in conducting research and analysis on model federal and state health policies implementing the ACA. Support the organization’s health literacy initiative, which is helping newly-enrolled women learn how to effectively use their health insurance and avoid unexpected costs. Improve access to health care by translating complicated policies into language that is easily understood by constituents.

The largest health organization in the Southeast region that provides reproductive health care services, political advocacy for the protection of reproductive rights, and educational programs about sexuality and reproductive health.

Policy and Advocacy Intern
Responsible for advocating for women’s reproductive rights by lobbying at the state capital, recruiting volunteers and supporters, canvasing local communities, organizing health fairs and forums, coordinating campus outreach, and assisting citizens with ACA enrollment. • Created new and lasting partnerships with state, local, and university organizations by bridging common community reproductive health goals.

An innovative program developed by the University of South Alabama which provides consultation services to the Mobile Juvenile Court, counseling and assessment services for youth in detention , and research related to systemic issues in juvenile
