In 1961, President John F. Kennedy, in his first Executive Order 10925, was first mentioned the Affirmative Action. Of course if the students’ background are same, minority students enroll first.
WHY SHOULD AFFIRMATIVE ACTION BE CHANGED
Because of Affirmative Action, the percentage of withe students declined from 53.5% to 47.7% in University of Texas (Nittle, n. d.). Further more, according to the report “the percentage of Asian Americans at the University of California, Berkeley grew from 37.3% in 1995 to 43.6% in 2000.” which the state banned from using Affirmative Action (Nittle, n. d.). Personally Affected By Affirmative Action Research shows that only 14% Black students were helped under the Affirmative Action, and there were 77% Black students felt not effect. Further more, more than 15% White students felt hurt under the Affirmative Action (Pew Research Center, 2003), some of them suppose to enter a better college or university, but they were refused because of Affirmative Action.
