Conservatives contrastingly believe that marriage is the union of one man and women and that homosexual marriages are a violation of, and offensive to, many religions including Judaism, Christianity and Islam and should not be lawful. As a Christian, I do believe that homosexuality is a sin; by a biblical standpoint, it is the same as stealing, cheating and lying. However, I do not believe that this should impose on the constitutional rights of marriage. Someone else’s sexual orientation is their business and should not be imposed upon by the government. I consider myself a liberal in this situation because I believe that the rebuttal of the right of marriage to homosexuals is unconstitutional. They believe that welfare systems create fairness by providing for those who cannot provide for themselves. In opposition, conservatives believe that welfare systems are unnecessary and that self-reliance should be encouraged. They believe that there is a better benefit from helping others get on their feet and become self-reliant than reliance on government programs. I consider myself conservative on the matter of welfare programs. I believe that all Americans have equal opportunities for education, careers and the like and that people should take advantage of these opportunities and become self-reliant. I do not think that it is fair for working Americans to fund those who do
