Self-assessment in Chapter 3 asked questions regarding the person’s emotional attachment and sense of belonging in the organization to measure his/her affective commitment, or the level of feeling that he/she wants to stay with the organization. As I was answering questions for this assessment, I referenced back to my internship at the City Service Audits Division of City and County of San Francisco. My result for the evaluation indicated that I have a weak sense of affective commitment to my internship. I was surprised by the result, because I have been interning at the office for three summers, and the length of internships would provide enough time for me to develop some affective commitment …show more content…
By examining my answer to each of the questions, I will be able to know what I like or don’t like about the organization, and factors that contribute to the low level of affective commitment I have toward the City Service Audits Division. The result provides some suggestions to my career in the future: whether I would want to stay with the organization when I graduated college, or work at another company where I would have higher levels of affective commitment.
To understand the score, I would examine my answers to each question, and find out the reason to my low level of affective commitment. I have realized that relationship with co-workers is the main cause for my low score for the test. I would try to develop a closer bond with my colleagues to increase my sense of belonging. If I cannot resolve the problem at work, I will consider switching a company in the future.

It measures the five dimensions, which are conscientiousness, agreeableness, neuroticism, openness to experience, and extraversion, of personality. My result of the test indicated I scored above average in conscientiousness, agreeableness, neuroticism, and openness to experience, and that I am on average for extraversion. I am surprised by the result, particular in the neuroticism and extraversion sections. I have always considered myself as a calm, and introverted person. Yet, the result of the test completely contradicted my perception of myself. The Big Five Personality Test is important because it helped me understand my strength and weakness. The result indicated that neuroticism and extraversion are the two sections that I need to work on in the future. However, I do believe that the test contains some expectations we have for ourselves. For example, I scored average, rather than below average, for extraversion because I want myself to be more outgoing. Therefore, the result would also help us understand what expectations we have for ourselves. The result offers suggestions not only on the areas we need to improve in the future, but also some careers that fits our personality. For instance, if I want to be outgoing and meet new people constantly, I probably would not want a job where I just sits in the office and write reports all the
