Aeydan C.: A Case Study

Aeydan C. was born on 10/03/2011. He was born with a heart condition called hypoplastic left heart syndrome. He lives at home with his mother and father with two dogs in a two-floor house.Aeydan's bedroom is located on the second floor with about 14 steps( parents was unsure of the number). He spends the majority of his time in his playroom located in the basement. He wears a medical bracelet on his wrist indicating his heart condition.The parents reported a healthy pregnancy with no complications, and that he was delivered full term via vaginal birth. Parents reported that Aeydan was diagnosed with HLHS during pregnancy via ultrasound and other screening tests. Aeydan first surgery occurred 4 days after his birth, in which a shunt was placed and the valves of the heart were evaluated. …show more content…
Aeydan latest surgery occurred at 2 years of age, in which the pulmonary valve was operated on and reconstruction of the heart was done. He did have a recent blood clot in the right atrium in 2014, in which he was put on Warfarin( 3 times a day). Other medications include Amlodipine ( 2 times a day), and Enalapril ( 5 ml 2 times a day). Aeydan is currently going to PT and OT for issues involving motor planning, and low tone. He began therapy at the age of 6 months. He currently seeing PT and OT for 2 times a week, for half an hour. He is also seeing a speech therapist, but will soon end treatment sessions. Aeydan C. enjoys riding his bike, playing baseball, playing golf, and skiing. He recently failed an eye test and diagnosis with a severe nystagmus in one of his eyes.
