Steven Tyler formed his own band called the Strangeurs though they were later called Chain Reaction. Perry and Hamilton were in Jam Band, commonly known as “Joe Perry’s Jam Band”. In 1970, Jam Band and Chain Reaction played at the same gig together. Tyler loved Jam Band’s sound and wanted to combine the bands. They met up later on in the same year to consider the proposition. Tyler, who was the drummer and backup vocals for Chain Reaction, refused to play the drums
