Aerojet Rocketdyne is a defense and aerospace contractor that deals heavily with the U.S. government and its various agencies such as NASA, the Missile Defense Agency and the US Air Force. However, the company also acts as a contractor and subcontractor to other companies like Boeing and Lockheed Martin. Aerojet Rocketdyne’s history dates back to the 1940’s when its co-founders from California Institute of Technology created a groundbreaking new technology called Jet Assisted Take Off, which allowed aircrafts to not only take off from short runways from U.S. Navy carriers, but for the first time in history. The founders, started the company with its facilities located in Pasadena, California under the name Aerojet Engineering

The RS-68 is the world’s largest hydrogen fueled engine, generating 17 million horsepower, which has propelled various Delta IV space missions with a 100% success rate. In the program, I work in the Business management team which allows other teams like Flight Operations, Production, Supply Chain management, and Engineering run their teams more efficiently, keep track of milestones and deadlines and ensure all teams are aware of the status the program is currently in. The business management team does all this by holding weekly meetings with the directors of various team at a minimum of every quarter and as often as every week. By doing so, the business Analysts working in the business management team can not only show the directors the status of their team, but also act as advisors for how to best manage the situation at hand and meet the expectations of our external clients. One example of these meetings are the quarterly ETC (estimate time to completion) meetings, where the Business management team will hold various meetings throughout the week for the directors of other teams to see how the amount of labor output used during the previous quarter, compared to previous estimates. These meeting allow the directors to see how much labor is being used each month by individual departments in their teams and adjust according to their …show more content…
The vast majority of the work I do is done on excel, including all the data analysis tools. Proper email etiquette, timeliness and awareness of deadlines are also highly valuable skills in the workplace. Outlook is the method of sending and receiving emails, but also keeping track of future commitments which you can post on your calendars and set reminders for. By using the calendar on outlook, you not only provide yourself with a way of keeping track of deadlines and tasks, but you can also view the calendars of your coworkers, to see what they’re currently doing and have coming up at future times. Lastly, a basic understanding of storing files, creating folders, and other basic functions on the computer is crucial in performing your job without
