Aerobics Reflection Report

Decent Essays
Taking aerobics class this semester has provided an amazing opportunity to challenge myself physical and mentally to reach my physical fitness goals. This class has been progressively challenging, however, also extremely rewarding when it comes to seeing noticeable results in my appearance and also endurance. In this assessment I will recap all of the challenges I have been facing as well as the progress I have been making in completing this aerobics course.
SMART Goals Established This Semester
In the beginning of the semester there were certain goals I wanted to set after in order to improve my overall health. This included to build up my endurance with different activities including cardio and strength. I also wished to improve my flexibility

I really enjoyed the TRX class because with some of the movements it felt like an aerial class. My body was also very sore the next day and so I know I have an intense workout. I also really enjoyed the yoga class as well as hip-hop because it was working out without even noticing we were working out. I really enjoyed the 20/20/20 format as well because each part (cardio, strength, and flexibility) did not last too long and so as soon as I began too get tired the next portion would begin. I even enjoyed this format so much I went to a 20/20/20 class outside of aerobics. While these were my favorite formats, there were some more challenging formats that really pushed my strength and …show more content…
I typically take a nap everyday before aerobics class and this, in my opinion, has attributed to me coming into class sluggish and unmotivated to work as hard as I possibly can. Something I have noticed that has also hindered my growth in this journey is over eating at the cafe because there are so many food options. Getting over feeling lazy and over eating could mean achieving my goals much faster and also having more discipline to stay on track.
Opportunities to Overcome Those Obstacles for Future Goals In the future, I think it would be best not to sleep right before aerobics class begins so that I can keep my energy up throughout the whole day. I will be able get a better workout in if I am not sluggish and trying to pick my energy up right before class. It is absolutely vital for my health and also if I want to improve my overall figure that I make healthier food choices when I go to eat. I typically overeat because there is so many different types of food offered in college and so to maintain my weight for the future I will need to make better eating choices and portion control what it is that I

The workout plan focused primarily on strength, alongside the focus on strength, Riley developed a safe running regiment, noting that a strong cardiovascular system assists in with weightlifting. For the next month, I followed the plan religiously with the intent to beat my classmates in weight lighting. In the first two weeks, my body could only handle two strength workouts and three running workouts a week. Before starting to train for this run I was nervous, I did not think it would be possible to get myself to run 5 K and could not begin to think about doing a 10 K. During the training process I discovered that I preferred ten minutes running and one minute walking opposed to seven minutes running and one minute walking. I decided the ten and one method the day of the run, I stuck with it and pushed through. Eventually I understood how to breath when running and how to run distances. One of the first runs our class did back in September in the ravine I felt disgusting afterwards. It was a hot day, I was running at the back of the line, I had cramps and I just wanted to take a nap.…

First year survival guide actually made me feel more comfortable with the way that my placement has been going. There were times that I was worried about my skill in classroom management but after reading the article I think that I have been doing at least on par and have been reacting in the right way. The article itself was a great read, I agree with a lot of what I had read. On the other hand there were some things that I believe don’t remain are not as relevant anymore. There were section titles that grabbed my attention immediately: Planning, Organization, The System, and Coping with stress.…

LOOKING AFTER YOUR HEART Unfortunately, coronary heart disease (CHD) is the biggest killer in the UK, with around 73,000 deaths per year according to nhs.uk. CHD basically refers to the narrowing or blocking of your arteries which supply the blood to the heart and is caused by a gradual build-up of fatty deposits inside your arteries. Certain people will be more at risk of developing the disease than others: • If you have a family history of heart disease – for example, if a parent or a sibling had CHD or a stroke (Under 65 for women or under 55 for men). • Age-related – the likelihood of CHD increases as you grow older • Men are more prone to developing CHD at an earlier age than women Given these factors, it would be sensible to make a…

Fitness and Goal Setting Knowledge Fitness and goal setting have been the main topic of conversation in this class. Whether we need to work on legs or arms today, or what we are going to do in the future. I learned that it is better to do quantity over quality when it comes to fitness workouts, and that it is always important to stretch and warm up your muscles before a workout to ensure you do not strain any muscles. For goal setting, I learned that if you pick a specific goal that you wish to achieve, like say to reach +10 in the fitness flexibility test, you can keep working towards that goal step by step, or in this case number by number, to reach your goals efficiently. When reaching towards a goal, you cannot just make it in one try…

I can recall a time when I challenged myself to do tremendous work over the summer. That summer was this year, where I encouraged myself to take drivers education for my license next year, test out of Algebra 2 and P.E., work at my parent’s nail salon to earn some cash, do my AP History and Advanced English homework, practiced my viola for Symphonic Orchestra, read during the night, and study for the S.A.T. (which was too early). I was prompted to act because I recently found my ambitions for my future, which is wanting to become some sort of engineer (undecided, but it is in this field), have the highest GPA possible, and get accepted into University of Michigan. These objectives did not came to me at the speed of light, but naturally throughout…

In general, what I have learned through my life experiences exercise may not be a priority for the majority of people. Children and teenagers should be getting daily exercise; there are no excuses for them to lead a sedentary life. Young adults in their twenties are usually focused on themselves and their appearance drives them; therefore, the majority achieves their exercise goals. Exercise will probably not be a priority for new parents trying to adjust to the changes they are experiencing now and will continue to experience for the next eighteen years. Their focus will not be on themselves; therefore, allotting time, whether 75 minutes of vigorous or 150 of moderate activity in not likely.…

The health goal that I decided to accomplish was to run a mile in 8 minutes or less by December 1st. This particular health goal was chosen for the reason that I felt my cardiovascular endurance could use improvement in comparison to my sprinting speed. It was a weak point that I want to address because when sprinting, I could not maintain my speed for long periods of time or distances. In addition, I plan to join the track team in the spring and hope to prepare myself for it. I made two action plans to alternate between for each week from research on what was an effective workout to increase my cardiovascular endurance.…

However, the many benefits that come from exercise are backed by years of research. If one is to adhere to exercise, there are many positives that can be added to life. I am a pretty active person in my everyday life and I do walk on my treadmill every morning, but I really want to get my heart rate up and burn some calories. I do notice that I am very tired in the mornings and I have read a number of research articles that show performing an activity like jogging or running first thing in the morning helps with energy and ramps up your metabolism.
