The procedure begins with the preparation of the individual performing the test, as well as the equipment the test will be performed with. The participant should have avoided any physical activity the day in which the test will be performed. In relation to food and drink consumption, they should not consume any large meal two to three hours before the test, they should be adequately hydrated, and they should not have taken any stimulants that may alter the results of the test. The technician performing the test should periodically calibrate the Treadmill Ergometer, calibrate the metabolic measurement system, measure and record the participant 's basic data and meteorological data, establish the desired exercise mode and protocol for the treadmill, …show more content…
The consumption of oxygen allows for the production of ATP through aerobic pathways. Therefore, it is important in order to determine one’s ability to function. With a greater amount of oxygen consumption, the body can better function. High oxygen consumption ability also relates to maximal cardiac output, muscle mass, and ventilation capacity. The results of this test can be used for many diagnostic …show more content…
It predicts endurance capabilities, health status, and mortality. The results of Vo2max tests are used to judge initial fitness levels, monitor fitness levels, monitor physiological changes that occur from training or illness, diagnostic purposes to treat cardiovascular diseases, and to prescribe physical training. If V02max scores drop by even 3.5 mL/kg/min in diseased people, survival rates automatically decrease approximately 12%. People with higher aerobic fitness levels have decreased rate of mortality compared to those with low aerobic fitness level that have an increased rate of mortality. Therefore, exercise tests to be performed to develop an exercise plan to increase one’s survival
