Fitness and Aerobic Program Coordinator. What is the first thought that comes to you? I

decided to interview a Fitness and Aerobic Program Coordinator even though I had no idea what

I was getting myself into. I did a phone interview with Erica E. Hirsch who works under DMC at

the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center. I learned many things from her and I also got

out of my comfort zone. This was the first I have ever interviewed someone and through a

phone. She was extremely friendly and answered many of my questions.

Erica has been working as a Fitness and Aerobic Program Coordinator for approximately

five years. She does many different tasks. Some of the tasks she does are free health assessments

She recommended Oakland University and Wayne

State University. Also, she suggested that a personal training certification will help in this career.

She wanted to become a Physical Therapist; however, at her time it became a Doctorates

program and it was going to be too expensive. She also said her career is growing and she loves

her job. I then asked specific questions about her career.

flexibility. I asked her about her short and long term goals. Erica said she wanted her office to

expand at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center and hopefully open other practices at

different locations. She works with a fulltime rehab trainer, two interns, and a physical therapist.

I asked her about if she could be self employed. She enthusiastically replied, “Of course.” She

said that October thru March is when she is the most busiest. She then laughed and said,

“January of course.” I laughed because I understood what she meant. People always have their

New Year’s Resolution. After asking her many of the questions; I got stumped. The conversation

has been only going on for ten minutes and I read an article online that said good

I would like to recognize Jed Smith as an exceptional individual as well as collegiate strength and conditioning coach. His knowledge, personality, and altruistic character led the University of Northern Iowa to new heights. I was a student-athlete at the University of Northern Iowa majoring in Exercise Science when Jed became the head strength and conditioning coach. Jed started a tradition and foundation at UNI on an academic level as well as athletic. Academically, he worked closely with the exercise science department to put more of an emphasis on strength and conditioning as a profession, which further led to both of my degrees in Exercise Science (i.e., M.A. and B.A.).…

Summary I interviewed John Cummings whom is the Associate Director of Washburn’s Student Recreation & Wellness Center. Cummings received his Undergrad in History at Northern Arizona University and his Master’s in Public Administration from Drake University. I purposely selected Washburn’s Recreation & Wellness Center because that is the gym I personally use and did not know much about the managerial details and the overall statistics about the people that exercise at the Rec. The Recreation center is unique because it provides a different social atmosphere to over 500 students daily all who have made the conscious decision to come to exercise. The rec is not for athletic team practices and physical education classes its open to all students…

After researching job openings in my hometown Tallahassee, Florida, I felt that the fitness trainer job at Youfit Health Club was the best job for me at this time. When Starr first told me that she was going to become a ‘call girl’, I wasn’t really sure what to think. I was angry, I was scared, but most of all I was ignorant. She had told me multiple times that she had been running into some money problems and even though I offered some assistance to her, she turned it down and said “Thank you, but it’s not enough”. In turn I started to think: how much trouble could she be in?…
