decided to interview a Fitness and Aerobic Program Coordinator even though I had no idea what
I was getting myself into. I did a phone interview with Erica E. Hirsch who works under DMC at
the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center. I learned many things from her and I also got
out of my comfort zone. This was the first I have ever interviewed someone and through a
phone. She was extremely friendly and answered many of my questions.
Erica has been working as a Fitness and Aerobic Program Coordinator for approximately
five years. She does many different tasks. Some of the tasks she does are free health assessments

She recommended Oakland University and Wayne
State University. Also, she suggested that a personal training certification will help in this career.
She wanted to become a Physical Therapist; however, at her time it became a Doctorates
program and it was going to be too expensive. She also said her career is growing and she loves
her job. I then asked specific questions about her career.
Erica works a typical 40 hours a week; she doesn’t work on the weekends. She loves the
flexibility. I asked her about her short and long term goals. Erica said she wanted her office to
expand at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center and hopefully open other practices at
different locations. She works with a fulltime rehab trainer, two interns, and a physical therapist.
I asked her about if she could be self employed. She enthusiastically replied, “Of course.” She
said that October thru March is when she is the most busiest. She then laughed and said,
“January of course.” I laughed because I understood what she meant. People always have their
New Year’s Resolution. After asking her many of the questions; I got stumped. The conversation
has been only going on for ten minutes and I read an article online that said good
