Advocate Nurse Scholarship Essay

“ When I was 11 years old my world was turn upside down. That is when my parents decided to leave Poland and move to USA, at the time I did not understand why? It took me a long time to understand, but with time I did. I realized that their decision will allow me to go to school and get a degree and I knew that not everyone gets that opportunity. Therefore, I wanted a degree that would allow me to give back and I realize that nursing will allow that. Now, 14 years later I am an Advocate Nurse, and I know that I used my opportunity wisely but I also believe I could do more. Since I got an opportunity that not everyone gets I wanted to be able to give back Currently I work on a Telemetry floor which is very busy and demanding. Patients are very sick and their cases are complex. As a nurse you have to know how to interpret EKG strips and to decide if further interventions are needed. You have to be familiar with various cardiac tests to be able to prepare patients. I collaborate with other health professionals to meet my patients need. Due to patients having many comorbidities they have various medical specialties managing their health.
