Abstract
Digital technology such as smart phones, web based devices and tablets are a primary form of communication in today’s society. More and more health care facilities are streamlining their communication process by using these devices. The health care industry is moving toward electronic health medical records. Electronic medical records (EMR) allow healthcare systems to exchange health information electronically. These electronic records improve patient care, provides accurate and up to date patient records and it improves provider communication.

Its primary focus is large health care organizations. Epic Care has received certification from the Certification Commission Health Information Technology (CCHIT) and Epic Care has received recognition from the Joint Commission/National Quality Forum for their improvement with patient care. Epic Care has also been named by KLAS as the number 1 Overall Software Suite in 2013. Epic Care not only has one of the largest electronic medical records program but also offers application that relates to patient care that consist of registration, scheduling ,clinical systems for nurses and doctors, and billing. Epic Care is the next generation electronic medical record software. It permits medical records and patient care information to be shared across other medical facility settings.
The use of Epic Care will provide more accurate health records. It has the ability to manage and keep track of prescriptions and testing. This medical record tracking will reduce duplicate medical testing and redundant medical forms. Epic Care also has the ability to chart in real time. This allow information to be kept up to date and clinical decisions are made with current information.
