In his book, How Partisan Media Polarize America, Matthew Levendusky formulates the argument that the American political culture is affected and moved to extremes by the influence of partisan media. Levendusky first constructs a clear outline of the content of his book, then introduces a series of hypotheses that illustrate the core of the effects of partisan media, then follows with an extensive elaboration of the acquirement of empirical data to support his claim, and finally concludes by applying his findings to greater societal consequences. In the first chapter, Levendusky questions whether or not partisan media have “troubling normative consequences” on the American political atmosphere (Levendusky 5). He introduces four important…
In Brooke Gladstone’s graphic novel entitled “The Influencing Machine”, journalistic media is evaluated throughout its evolution. Due to the complexity of the subject, many different qualities of the media are explored throughout the novel; however, four main, controversial themes are always evident, and those four are the purpose, necessity, honesty, and reliability of journalistic media. The March on Washington and the Montgomery to Selma march were two of the most monumental moments in the black civil rights movement. Ultimately, both marches are initially negatively depicted and are perceived as inherently violent, but after each event takes place they are celebrated for their ability to unite many under a common goal and promote freedom for the…

In the mass media, media bias occurs when a media outlet reports a particular news story in partial or prejudiced way, meaning many news journalist select certain news stories and they decide to report on it on how they feel it should be covered. There are many forms of media bias with the most common forms of media bias being media criticism, bias by omission, bias by selection of sources, bias by story selection, bias by placement, and finally bias by labelling.
