The advisory council believes that every member has a choice to make his/her voice heard every year when he/she votes on council members. The point of the advisory council is that we are respected for our wisdom, experience and the advice that we are asked to give. The advisory council is a leadership team that calls and guides discussion meetings.

“Leadership Team” is removed from the first paragraph of the current policy and the council believes it is important that it stays!

The proposal has everyone rotating up towards the director position. Most council members don’t want to shift up to the director position. It will very difficult for everyone on the council to have a new job every year. There is a large learning curve with every job, and every council member would be a “newbie” every year. Each council member would be learning his/her new job AND training the person who took their previous job. This would be added stress to the already stressful VOLUNTEER position.
If this proposal would go into effect the current council would scramble to make sure that new council would be trained effectively. We have very capable members of CG who could do these jobs they all have the opportunity to serve on council if they are and stay active member for two or more consecutive years and have meet the requirements for teaching. These individuals show commitment and dedication by meeting these requirements. Many CG members meet these requirements and choose not to serve in an advisory council position. The Communication coordinator keeps a record or attendance and requirements, he/she then ask every individual if they are willing to serve on council many are not interested for several different
