The “Good” Old Days
Advertising comes in many forms: written ads, pictures, radio broadcasts, commercials, and even YouTube videos. The world is full of advertisements every day in the modern era, and a lot of advertisements really go unnoticed, and with no lasting impact to the general population. Some of the best examples of great advertisements are political advertisements created by the public, and not the actual candidate themselves. In Marianne DeMarco’s video, “The Good Old Days”, she uses pathos, ethos, and logos to convince undecided voters that Donald Trump should not be the next president of the United States of America
The video starts off with a chilling echo track playing as GOP debate footage plays. “Do you think you have done

With less than a month till election day, Donald Trump’s name should be known by every eligible voter in the United States. This election has also been one of the most covered elections by the media due to one candidate being a reality star who panders to the wildest, hate fueled dreams of the Republican party. As the target audience is easily swayed Trump voters, they hold at least some credibility to his name, and a video such as this one can very easily cast him in a different light in their eyes. The video definitely damages Trump’s character, as it brings the reality of his statements into the light. The highest and most respected position of power in this nation is the president of the United States of America. As this video takes away from Trumps character, it makes it harder for one to view him as worthy of this position. One is reminded of the values they want their president to have, and this video is more of an example of what not to elect. DeMarco has no credibility to her name, but that could also be the one thing that wins over undecided voters. She is not one of the paid media sources the American public is so tired of listening to. She has made up her mind for herself, and not by who gave her the biggest paycheck. Even though DeMarco is unknown and has no credibility attached to her name, she gains credibility in the message she is sending in the video. The clips in the video from the civil rights era plays towards the viewer’s sense of self awareness. One sees these horrible videos and asks how anyone could act in such a way, when Trump’s words remind them that he advocates the very actions they are witnessing. In defending not only human rights, but also the rights given to the citizens of the United States in the Bill of Rights, she earns

Introduction I’m sure that many people these days have noted Mr. Trump’s battle or comments on Twitter have often been blown up into their faces by the media these days. In fact, it’s quite rare to find a news article that doesn’t include the infamous family name “Trump” either. It’s a constant ongoing battle between the Trump and media sources. After all, he had went from a big television personality to now becoming our president, which no one would have originally seen coming and is a particular nuisance to many as he both dislikes media and tends to make outrageous statements. Yet, many people within America and even outside of America tend to be attracted to this attention to Trump’s administration.…

Throughout political campaigns in history we have seen many different evolutions from debates to political ads on television. Since political ads became big in 1952, there have been a few ads that have made a large mark, and even some that have changed the course of political campaigning. Few of the oldies-but-goodies have been updated, repurposed, and made prevalent in this year’s election cycle. One of these ads was put on television in 1964 by the Lyndon Johnson campaign and was redone and reused by the Hillary Clinton campaign in 2016. This ad is known as the Peace Little Girl (Daisy) ad in 1964 and called Daisy in 2016 as titled on the Living Room Candidate website.…

In no way do I want to go into further discussion about politics or this year’s election into my discussion board but when I think of an advertising campaign which has a strong insight behind it, my mind automatically goes to this year’s election. The campaign and their advertising drew deep into the other opponent. One in particular that stood out to me was Hillary Clinton’s ad about role models (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mrX3Ql31URA). Children look up to the President of the United States—many kids say that when they grow up they want to be the president, because I mean who wouldn’t? This advertisement shows speeches that Donald Trump making fun of a disabled reporter, talking about Mexicans are rapists and how they are bringing drugs…

Politically we live in a quite polarizing time. Between the two viable presidential candidates and an equal amount of dissatisfaction of those candidates on both sides, the fate of this country is seemingly up in the air. Though the election holds a discernable amount of media coverage and attention of the public every term the media coverage of this particular election has been dominated by the hateful rhetoric and call to violence of a particular candidate. The candidate calling for this violence is Donald Trump, he on multiple occasions has called for violence against protesters telling his audience how he would like to see them “punched or maimed”. Encouraging his supporters to do so by promising to cover their legal fees if they get arrested…

In the first hundred days of Trump’s presidency, he continues to show his and lows that everyone will remember in history. The American people are exceedingly mixed on his actions that he performs in office or what he tweets on his phone; depending on what poll you go to. Although it’s been a few months, Trump has provided enough to reveal what areas he acts as a leader and where he behaves carelessly. Regardless if these positions or issues that Americans agree with or not. Trump’s effective and ineffective moments as a fox/lion, his poor use of cruelty, and dealing with the people and the great, always produce a negative from the American…

Once every four years, many of the standard television advertisements are replaced with something much worse: political campaign ads. There are many different types of campaign ads. Among them are characters ads, which serve to establish the good character of a candidate, bandwagon ads, which serve to convince the public that a candidate is best choice because many other people are voting for them, and evidence ads, that use facts to convince the public that a candidate is the best choice for office. There is, however, one type of ad that sparks more controversy than any of the others, the attack ad. The attack ad seeks to dissuade voters from choosing a certain candidate by attacking their character or track record.…

Almost anyone with television or Internet access can report feeling irritated by negative political advertisements. Although the targets are different, all negative ads aim to dissuade citizens from voting for a certain candidate by presenting negative information on him or her. The information may be factual, such as controversial policies they enacted, or closer in nature to high school gossip. Many argue that although messages of fear and negativity are persuasive, negativity can also decrease participation. Krupnikov (2011) found that negativity demobilizes voters when they have already selected a preferred candidate and the negativity targets their preferred candidate.…

This presidential election has surprised millions of people. Despite the constant criticism of Trump, specifically his beliefs and his actions, he was able to win the presidential election in a landslide. For months we have heard that there is no way he will win, that his campaign is just a joke and that Hillary will sweep him in the final election. We, however, underestimated the power of his marketing strategy. It has even been stated by John Barker, the president and chief idea officer at independent advertising shop Barker, that “whether by instinct or design, Donald Trump is without a doubt the most modern and sophisticated marketer of the Republican candidates” (Stein 2016).…
