In our society, it appears that in every direction one chooses to look, there is an advertisement promoting some type of product that almost seems to hypnotize us and sometimes even affect us emotionally. Today’s marketing strategies are smarter and further advanced than ever before. Whether it may be a kid’s advertisement for toys, a lady’s offering a more beautiful you, or one that states a man can have an extraordinary muscular body, these advertisements seem to affect everyone in some way. Companies rely on these advertisements to generate more customers which lead to more overall profits in their business. Although advertising has had some negative impacts on American culture, the effects have been primarily positive.

The clothing industry is one that relates to every demographic no matter the age, religion, or financial status, they all can be negatively affected by mischievous advertisements. Females and males alike are lead to believe how astonishing they will look after purchasing these marvelous products. The culprit in these advertisements is that the people pictured are models and have been miraculously touched up to appear flawless. The beauty industry applies to this marketing technique as well. Beauty manufacturers claim many of their products to reduce or remove wrinkles, to make eyes and lips bigger and bolder, and hair longer and more lustrous than ever before. However, these claims are just gimmicks to sell their products. Children are a major part of the advertiser’s quest for added business as well. On the kids only networks the advertisers can rest assured that their advertisements reach the targeted audience. Not only do toy companies have an enormous impact on children, clothing, as well as the food industry have negative impacts on children also. Although one may perceive this type of advertising as negative and misleading, millions of dollars are contributed into our economy every year.
