Living in the 21st century, we are unable to escape the corporate’s attempts to drown consumers in their advertisements. Without even realizing, we walk into the world with advertisements shouting at our faces. Advertisements have become so deeply imbedded into our lives that it has seeing them has become a part of our daily routines. We have become so habituated to provocative advertisements that when we see half naked women on print advertisements, we are no longer phased. Living in a growing feminist society, women continue to be advertised to the male gazes to attract their attention. Advertisers sacrifice basic morals to promote their product to the public to ensure maximum profits. The masses have indulged into promotional culture where we give these brands and companies the power to define ourselves as a person. (check thesis) We are constantly being exposed to advertisements online and in the real world. Websites thrive off of advertisements as they are the main source of their income. When consumers surf the web, they are constantly being exposed to advertisements on the side of their screens. We no longer need to leave our house to purchase items, because we can easily access these advertisements through the web. Web 2.0 and blogging has also offered additional opportunities for companies to advertise, where they are able to get popular online individuals to endorse their products.
