Rape Culture is an environment in which rape is prevalent and in which sexual violence against women is normalized and excused in the media and popular culture. Rape culture is perpetuated through the use of misogynistic language, the objectification of women’s bodies, and the glamorization of sexual violence. In a more then over sexualized quick shot, company Calvin Klein proves just how well misogyny and lack of respect for woman is alive(Fig.1). Company Calvin Klein was founded in 1968 and by early 1970s managed to secure millions in sales, Having initially focused on women’s coats and coordinates, Klein eventually branched out into additional lady’s apparel that could be mixed and matched, cultivating a minimalist, streamlined look that relied on sublime tailoring and fabric choices.By the 1980s, Klein’s brand was also known for underwear and luxurious perfumes and colognes with corresponding ad campaigns.The Instagram ad in question aimed at younger members of society knowing a simple hashtag, skimpy pose, and pretty face would attract the masses. The purpose of this ad of course is to sell the legendary panties and make the company thousands. The problem with a photograph of this kind is the angle, what is being exposed, what is said, and how the model looks.Its simply trashy and demeaning to woman.
