Advertisements against distracted driving, especially when the distractions are centered around technology, have been played for years on every type of media: television, radio, print, the Internet, everywhere media is influential. One would think that consumers would get the idea; don’t drive distracted. Advertisements have reworded this simple phrase into every ad you can think of, yet few ads profoundly affect the average driver. A certain ad campaign by Volkswagen in July 2013 is among the few. Using pathos and relatability, the simplistic design of the advertisements has a conventional understanding of the implications of operating a vehicle while distracted.

    The Ontario government gives a touch of reality to drivers with the advertisement called “put down the phone” in which is possible to see a young driver texting while driving through an intersection, the driver is hit by another car and it is possible to see the driver confined to a wheelchair after been in a hospital.
