Adversity: The Man Who Changed My Life

Improved Essays
Throughout our life we go through adversity, we go through it every day, every week, every month and year. You can't avoid it. An interesting quote I found is “When everything seems to be going against you, remember that a plane takes off against the wind, not with it” -Henry Ford. This quote is saying that, if you're having a tough time in life, fight it, you’ll overcome it. The doctors took me away to take test, only to figure out the worst of news. They went back to the room where my parents were told to sit in, and broke the news to them. They told them I had a rare disease called “ginger.” They said I didn't have much time, they estimated about ten years. They said my body would start deteriorating by the age of three. It's my fifth birthday, and I'm as healthy as any other kid. It was so far a miracle, but my parents didn't want to get too happy about the situation. They knew it could all go wrong in the blink of an eye. So far tho nothing seemed to go wrong, the doctors didn't know how I was so healthy. Years went by, and I had no issues adapting to normal life. I went to school, and learned about the many things in life. I was able to join sports, and do things like any other kid even know I had a rare condition. There was still things that made my days I lived harder, like every morning having to take my Ginger medication, or the monthly doctor appointments that later stopped because I was healthy enough to where they didn’t worry anymore. I couldn't go out in the sun as long as other kids. Yes these things did affect me in a negative way, but also in a positive

This quote inspires me to endure any hardships I experience for two reasons: it reminds me that there could be more difficult events I could face, and that my reward for enduring it will be a meaningful life experience. Because everyone experiences hardships in life, I can look at this quote and be reassured that I am not the only one with a certain problem, but I am also convinced that many people live through more severe events and therefore I can definitely withstand whatever life may give me. When I look at this quote, I recall all my past troubles and, more importantly, what I learned from those. The quote is similar in message to the “hang in there!”…
