Everyone has faced a certain point in their lives where adversity has led their aptitudes out. Adversity affects people in different ways whether physically, mentally, or financially. In the quote by Horace, a roman poet, adversity is viewed as hardships that people overcome every day in their lives that make them who they are today. Although adversity can make people endure, adversities develop the person to become prosperous and bloom vigorous and effulgent like a rose. From personal experience and on views on successful people, I agree with Horace verbal expression because I believe that everything one surmounts in life makes them prosper and strive in everything they do.…

The statement that “Adversity is one thing we all experience at one point or another,” is quite correct. All people that live or have lived have suffered the pains of adversity. However the continuation of the statement is not as precise, not all “Texts dealing with adversity are moving portraits of people who are great examples of resilience.” This is because texts dealing with adversity can only show resilience in a limited number of forms, therefore in these texts resilience is shown as black and white, not as the many shades of grey it actually is. This can be observed in the texts “the Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time,” by Mark Haddon, which follows the protagonist Christopher Boone as he tries to solve the mystery of the…

I was devastated when I found this out and did everything I could to get back into that game. One example was when I was getting taped up to hopefully prevent as much pressure on my foot as possible.…
