Many people in the modern and fictional world experience adversity in their story or live. Through they face and overcome challenges with themselves and others the adversity is still part of the person after they overcome it. One inspirational person in the modern world that has faced adversity is Johnny Depp. A fictional character that is studied in the class is Guy Montag. The challenges that these people face can be connected through the song “Unsteady” by the X Ambassadors. The first point to connect the two characters is Johnny Depp. Johnny Depp has experience many challenges of adversity from a young age. Depp’s parents had many conflicts within their marriage starting from the time he was very young. One of those moments in his adversity is when Mildred sounded the alarm on him for having the books. Montag shares the books with Mildred to try to tell her what importance he saw in them. When Montag is brought to his house by Beatty he is there just in time to see Mildred running out of the house. As Montag saw Mildred he said, “Mildred, you didn’t put in the alarm! (Bradbury 114)” Mildred does not admit to it or apologize for sending the alarm and instead gets into a taxi while talking about her family, meaning the TVs in the home that she is leaving. Montag doesn’t have much time to think about what happened with Mildred before he has to escape from the city. It is not clear that Montag fully overcomes the adversity of his wife leaving him because he thinks about her during the explosion of the city, but he overcomes that adversity at the moment enough to make it out of the city alive.
