Descriptive Essay Of A Short Story

There comes a time in your life where you need to decide between fear and excitement. The rush of the ride or the panic of the plunge. To be completely veracious zip-lining is the scariest adventure I have ever experienced. To make it even more nerve racking, it was in the top of a rain forest. The zip-line was exhilarating, thrilling and eye-popping, from the bus ride to the station, to the zipping of the line and the raging river below.
The enormous white and blue tour bus came rattling up the drive. The wise instructors started boarding us on the bus as if we were cattle being hoarded on a trailer. So, there we sat in a foul-smelling, funky bus with over twenty people, on a boiling day, where I could see the littlest bead of sweat drip off the end of the nose of the person setting beside me. Then we were off, thank goodness, the ride wasn't very long. The ride was as if someone had crash landed a plane on one of the most uneven, knobby and rugged roads. It seemed like it was taking a lifetime to get to the mountain. Finally, it was as if we came to a smooth landing as we

I looked over to my right, toward the most majestic waterfall I had ever seen. It was picture perfect. It was so enchanting that it felt like there should have been rainbows and unicorns all around it. As I boarded my water raft to engage in the river fun, I imagined I could hear a paean coming from the waterfall. It was so mesmerizing and inviting. The raft began to glide over the water with ease and I had prepared myself for the worst. The float starting slipping and sliding out from under me. I could feel the rocks on the bottom of the river and I knew that everything was going to be okay. The rocks were smooth, ripple-less and unbroken. But it was so effortless to get out of that cal m and relaxing water. By now I was ready for this excursion to be over

I felt like I could lay there on the water forever and look up to the stars. To really see all of what God has created and how beautiful every little thing is. I sometimes take for granted how beautiful everything really is, just from all of the color and little details on certain things. Just took look at trees and the colors and shapes…

Crashing underwater in the North Georgia mountains, I wondered how I ended up here, upside down in the freezing cold water of the Cartecay river. My friend Jackson is a thrill-seeking kayaker, the total opposite of me. He’s outgoing and loves adventure, while I’m a bit introverted and cautious. Last winter Jackson convinced me to go kayaking, assuring me the river was easy to navigate and harmless.…

The only thing to do was to not look down at the 1,000 feet below me at the winding river. We finally stopped at a small crack in the wall. Our trip leader designated time for reflection on what the outdoors meant to us, and how being in the backcountry has changed us over our past four summers at camp. Being in nature gives me a sense of wonder and an irreplaceable magical feeling. The outdoors are a safe haven away from the craziness of life, they are able to surround and soothe, as well as…

Close call on Current River In the small town of Popular Bluff, Missouri, sun was brightly shining down on this hot summer morning, making it the optimum day to go tubbing down Current River. That morning there were about eight of us going tubbing, my stepfather Larry, two uncles, an aunt, my sister, my two brothers and I. We loaded up the car with the essentials that would be needed; then we loaded up into two vehicles and headed for the river. When we finally arrived at the water’s edge my brother John and I were so excited, we basically leapt out of the car before it came to a complete stop.…

“How much longer?” I groaned out to my dad while wiping the sweat off my brow caused by the blistering heat of the mid-day sun. We were hiking up the Arizona Trail in the Grand Canyon for almost two hours. My brother and cousin were running up ahead, trying to race each other to the top of the 13-mile trail. My dad kept yelling at the two of them to slow down and wait for us. I knew the three of them wanted to go faster but kept having to wait for me.…

It was a gloomy day. I was at our Subdivision’s Local Beach getting ready to swim out to the raft with my four friends. The “raft” as we called it was the bottom end of a Pontoon Boat anchored in the center of Dollar Lake. Occasionally the rain and winds blew it. When my friends arrived we dove into the shallow end of the beach and acquainted our bodies with the cold, late Summer temperature.…

Growing up in Southern California we spent most of our summers at Lake Havasu and Parker. For as long as I can remember, getting to spend my summers on the lake with my close friends and family was what got me through the school year, knowing that for a full month I would have no cares in the world except for what adventures lay ahead of us. As the school year came to an end, all we could think about was getting to the lake to start our last summer together before we all ventured off in separate directions. Starting to pack and load up the RV was all I could think about for days, seeing as this was the last summer we would all spend together.…

The world turned dark and my heavy eyes fell shut as my body drifted into a deep trance. From a distance, I saw myself climbing up a ladder which led to the redwood loft bed in my house in the hills. I watched as the younger me almost hit my head on the low hanging wooden ceiling beams and the next thing I knew I was crawling straight over pillows while dragging my box of zebra puzzle pieces. Making my way to the tiny window that looked out towards an empty field, a sea of trees began to arise. Sliding the 1’ wide, 9’’ tall glass to the left and excitedly shifting from a crawling position, I sat up as straight as possible, my young and youthful body slightly restricted by the low hanging ceiling.…
