Advantages Of Vacations

Planning a trip overseas is quite expensive, especially for young adults still in college, which is why I included in one of my sub-topics : “What steps can be taken by a student to plan a cost efficient trip?” Budgeting money wisely begins with the plane ride there. Recently, as I was browsing flights to Western Europe on Google Flights, the web page showed a calendar that displayed the prices underneath. I noticed some flights cost significantly less on weekdays, particularly Tuesdays and Wednesdays. These were the same flights, to the same destinations, however, the departures on on Friday through Sundays costed anywhere from fifty to three hundred dollars more! So, I asked:”When can one purchase plane tickets at the best rate?” This led …show more content…
Planes departing at popular times such as the holidays or during vacation season, tend to be more expensive due to high demand. Try and grab tickets two months before the planned departure. This website also offers an option to enter the traveler’s airport of departure, destination or general area they are interested in visiting, when they want to go, and what their budget is. Fare Compare then shows a map, pinpointing all of the cities that meet the travelers criteria. I have never encountered a service like this, and think it is a helpful tool that I will definitely be using to plan future vacations. This is a great way to budget a trip in general, especially considering there are many countries and cities that are very inexpensive to travel around. Knowing this, I began to wonder: ”Where should a traveler on a budget go?” I found just the answer I was looking on a certified traveler’s blog called Budget Travel. Experienced traveler, Kashyap Bhattacharya, recommended Portugal, Sarajevo, capital of Bosnia, and Berlin, Germany. There you can find inexpensive living and dining, for as little as thirty USD a day (Bhattacharya), in addition to spending time in a great travel …show more content…

If one plans to spend more than a few day, they should consider getting a monthly or weekly pass, depending on the duration of their stay. Despite our ignorance, we still managed to save quite a bit of money, but my favorite part was getting to see a lot more of the city, hopping on, and just following the path of the route. The easiest way to save money, is to be cautious of where it’s coming from. Having the proper currency is crucial upon arriving to a new place, but it is difficult to find the best exchange rate, thus I questioned: “Where is the best place to exchange currency?” On Ordinary Travler, I read an article on travel mistakes often made. There I learned that one of the greatest opportunities for travelers to be exploited, is when facing the dangers of foreign

The Island Hopping Strategy employed by the US Navy had extreme strategic importance in relation to their victory in the Pacific Theatre. In choosing which islands to “hop to”, General MacArthur only chose islands that were of strategic importance to the US. In the context of the conflict on the Pacific Theatre, and the US goal of launching an invasion on mainland Japan, this meant choosing islands of geographic importance. Thus, General MacArthur chose islands that were either lying in the US’s previously chosen path to Japan, or that had helpful military supplies, such as airfields, harbors, or fortified military bases. By selectively choosing such island, the US forces were able to easily “hop” from one island to the next, with the help of the military fortifications that were either already on the islands, or that they were able to quickly build with their superior construction equipment.…
