Advantages Of The Patriots In The American Revolution

During the American Revolution, the Colonial Patriots managed to come out victorious, even though they were underdogs, fighting the largest power in the world at the time. They were at a significant disadvantage because of the small size of their fighting branches, the army and navy. Britain, on the other hand, had the largest navy in the world along with many weapons that could be used for war. The Patriots were able to make significant progress in the American Revolution because of their advanced knowledge of the geography to their advantage, the help of various American financiers, and the effective American leadership. Ultimately the American Patriots were able to defeat the largest empire in the 18th century in a military contest and achieve sovereignty over lands stretching to the Mississippi River.

George Washington was a strong fighter with good battle strategies. He specifically helped the Patriots win the American Revolution by assisting in the defeat the British at the Battle of Yorktown with the help the French army, and by simply being the commander of the Patriot Continental Army. Without George Washington as commander, the Continental Army would not have been successful in defeating the British.
