Studying abroad has become really common this days. A long time ago, there weren 't many people leaving their own home town to study in a different country due to various aspect but, today it is very typical. In order to be successful in many countries it is necessary to have a good education, reason why there are so many international students today. They leave everything behind, life, family and friends, looking for a better future. there are many issues that international students encounter when they arrive at the destination such as language proficiency, new culture, make new friends and school work. Many of these issues are overcome if the students has an open mind, so depending on the person, it can take one year or more for an international …show more content…
The adjustment can be very challenging, but at the same time really interesting. When they get to their destination, the first thing they suffer from is the language proficiency. What happened to most international student is that, when they arrived they interact more with people of their own nationality. At first they see that as a good thing, but then they realize that it can be a disadvantage, because when you hang out with people that speak the same language as they do, they don 't get to learn and practice the language. Also, it is beneficial for them to socialize with natives; those people can help them with things they don 't know such as where is the best place to eat without spending a lot of money, or how to get from place to place using public …show more content…
There is more need for a face-to-face meet when social media can do that for us. International take the benefit from that. Because they live far away from their home country it is very hard for them to talk with their family and friends, and the use of social media can maintain and make the communication easier and affordable. Skype is the app that is most used by international students, its is free and all they need is a computer with wi-fi.
