Advantages Of Sq4r Method

The SQ3R method is used to understand text and information more clearly. This method is broken up into S for survey, Q for questions and the 4 R’s for Read, Recite, Review and Rewrite. “The SQ4R method is perhaps one of the oldest and most widely implemented study strategies.” “The SQ4R method applies most readily to textbooks and formal reading assignments in which readers are required to consume main points from writing.” The goal of the SQ4R method is to increase student’s engagement with the text, as students consume information to answer key questions on the subject content. Making questions for your self will help yourself understand the information that you are consuming and will help for your short term memory process the information so that it can transfer to your long term memory. While reading the text and consuming the information you might come across where you don’t understand something make a question out of it so that when you read more into the chapter it might pop up again and will have the answer for it. “It is important to review the material to understand and remember it.” By remember the information by going over it many times your brain will process it better and you will understand it better. In the review section go over the questions you had made make sure you have answered all of them, if not go back and try to find the answers. This is crustal because these questions that you might have had may be the ones on your test and it would be beneficial to have the answer so you don’t have to wing that question.
