Whether students are entering college fresh out of high school or after a break from school, they will be faced with many decisions. One of those decisions will be not only what classes to take, but in what format they wish to take them. Because the entire course is online, these types of classes work well with any schedule. Traditional lecture style classes are bound by the college hours of operation, and this may severely limit what courses students can take. The convenience of setting one’s own study and class-time schedule as well as the flexibility of being able to work whenever and wherever is extremely beneficial to a lot of people. Whether they are working a full-time job, are a full-time parent, or just a night owl, as long as the student works within the confines of the course deadlines they can succeed. Being completely in charge of how and when they study directly effects student’s study skills as it will help hone their time management and organizational skills. Developing these skills will not only help students succeed in other classes, both online and traditional, but in other aspects of their life as well. Strong time management and organizational skills will be beneficial across all educational, professional and personal

However, online classes require that students attend classes a certain number of times throughout the week, yet as a rule, the individual can work the online classes into their calendar at whatever point they need. English 1302 is a very demanding class but it was also a very useful one, since it thought me many things about researching and about supporting an argument. The main thing I learned is research since we had to find a lot of information for our papers. The course demands the student to write fifteen assignments, which means that almost every week there was a paper or a brief assignment to complete, thus making the class a laborious process. Although the course was going to be challenging from the beginning of the semester, the professor helped us alot even though we met in a classroom once a week.…

This type of learning is best for people who are either going back to school after either a break or people going back to get another degree. With on-line learning the work for the class can be done at any time in the day and or at any place the student chooses. This means students who may have a job or family to take care of they can do the work when they have time for it and or at any place they are at the time. Traditional classes are not as easy to go to for students with family, work and or other obligations.…

Online courses lack in the area of physical communication. Communication is virtually done through emails or discussion board assignments; often times this can be a disadvantage to students who need a quick response from their instructor.
