Salesforce.com still has plenty of catching up to do to reach the size and market share of their larger competitors. As of 2007, SAP's CRM market share was 25.7 percent, compared to only 7 percent for Salesforce.com. IBM's customer base includes 9,000 software companies that run their applications on their software and that are likelier to choose a solution offered by IBM over Salesforce.com.

At last count, both Google and Apple were fast approaching the million app mark with the Google Play Store and the iTunes App Stores. Both vendors predict that they will cross this mark sometime in 2013. Microsoft is currently way behind, but with over 150,000 apps already available through Windows Phone Store, and with a good response on Windows Phone 8, it’s reasonable to expect that the giant from Redmond will not allow itself to stay far back. But this is not really just about mobile devices.…

There is little debate on Google’s prowess in gathering and utilizing data to better understand and market to the company’s current and potential customers. If anything the organization has often been accused of gathering too much information and violating Antitrust Laws. In 2015, the European Union’s antitrust chief, Margrethe Vestager, formally accused Google of abusing its dominance in web searches and in April of this year the antitrust authorities charged the company with unfairly using Android to promote its own services over those of its rivals. According to the European Commission, “Google has granted significant financial incentives to some of the largest smartphone and tablet manufacturers as well as mobile network operators on condition that they exclusively pre-install Google Search on their devices” ("European Commission - PRESS RELEASES - Press release - Antitrust: Commission sends Statement of Objections to Google on Android operating system and applications – Factsheet," 2016). However, despite recent AntiTrust issues the company continues its dominance of web search, video content sharing, online advertising, mobile OS, browser usage and many other markets.…

This makes sense how “it’s about the consumer.” What’s wrong with Google being ahead when customers obvious enjoy their products more than anything being offered?…
