Some ways that universities could help disadvantage students is by having clubs for healthcare majors. Hosting seminars where students can learn, interact and talk to professionals. Have teachers bring in guest speakers that already work in the healthcare field and allow them to tell us their journey on how they got to where they are at now. Being exposed to individuals with health care background is what is needed. Job shadowing is very important as it allows students to get a grip of what is offered in the healthcare field. As an established healthcare professional I would contact nearby schools and let them know that I would be willing to allow students to job shadow my profession and give them advice on how to get their foot in the door.
