There are many advantages to homeschooling your children and when you are ready to make that decision you will know what is best. Recent estimates report that well more than a million children are being homeschooled nationwide which is a huge increase from what was estimated in 1990. It is said that the increase in homeschooling may reflect the growing dissatisfaction with formal education and a growing public acceptance of homeschooling (Collom, 2005). Home schooling can be good for a child in many ways and a lot of parents that homeschool their children firmly believe that what they are teaching their children is a lot better than what the “normal” schools are teaching them (Lebeda ,2007).
Let’s go over some of the advantages of homeschooling first. When homeschooling your child there is a more direct and focused method of learning because the class size is not as large as a public school class. Public schools have an average of thirty students per classroom and only one teacher which means that the instructor has to cater to all thirty students’ needs instead of just one. The downfall of that is that some children need more attention and help than other students.
It is very beneficial for students to learn at their own pace which is possible when a child is home schooled. Children as well as parents are able to have a more flexible schedule and can control their daily schedule and be as involved as needed.
