Advantages Of Community College

Decent Essays
Another advantage community college students have is the size of the classes. At a community college classes are made up between fifthteen to twenty-five students. This can be a really huge advantage because this gives students a chance to speak with their professor, and this could lead to an easier learning experience. You can easily ask the professor, a question and receive a quick response back unlike waiting a day later, or maybe a week later. At a university, a “…student can be placed in a classroom the size of about two auditoriums stick together with two to three hundred people, possibly watching the professor on a previously recorded tape”.( Education That Matters. Education Corner) At a community college, a professor could remember

Many of the students who go to a university look down upon students who go to a community college. In the article “The Community College/‘Real College’ Divide” by Kristin O'Keefe, she explains how community college is looked down upon and argues that community colleges are as just as great as universities. O’Keefe writes, “they had heard the message that community college was not a real college, and they listened”. Even though O’Keefe didn’t get to experience the community college as a student, she has experienced it as a faculty member. I agree with the article because it true, just because community college is in front of the name it doesn’t make it any less than a university, typical community college students have different experiences than university students.…

A crowded college “will end up with long waiting list” said Siqueiros. If a community college becomes overcrowded it just makes it difficult for the faculty to control the school, for the professors to teach properly and for the students to focus and learn. A community college is all about setting a student to success. Leading them to success after probably not having been able to in high school or also giving them a boost of help to manage time, and with a free and overcrowded school these things might be difficult to achieve. It’s unfair for students who are well off and have money to take up the spots at a community college when poor low income students can barely afford it.…

There are a few reasons why I decided to attend a community college. First, I knew that if went to a community college, my financial aid will cover my tuition and fees. The second reason is that this community college is 15 minutes far away from my home and that really worked for me because I wasn't prepared at that time to leave my family behind. I know that I made the right decision because I'm getting the same education that other colleges and universities offer, but less expensive. The third reason is that I love small classes because I get to have a really good connection with my professors and my classmates and for me that is really important.…

They also have to cover any additional college fees and other living expenses, such as transportation costs.” This can factor into whether a student chooses a University, or a community college. I can easily use this for my essay to explain why community college is a good first step after high school. In my first article they explain how most students who go to community college struggled financially long before then.…
