One of the hardest decisions that you must make while picking colleges will be whether to stay close to home or moving far away. While selecting colleges, make sure that you choose the right one for you, where you will succeed intellectually and socially. No matter what you choose, there will be always be pros and cons to help you make your decision. While in college, the disadvantages of being far from home aren’t so overwhelming when one has planned and prepared, in comparison to the advantages of living closer to home. Both waver between a little good and bad, depending on how the student manages their time, efforts, opportunities, studies, etc. The same goes for advantages of being far from home, in comparison to disadvantages of living closer to home.
If you do decide to stay and attend school close to home, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. The main reason for staying, you save money. By staying close to home and saving on room and board, as well as laundry, groceries, and other incidentals, is good for your pocketbook (Vistacollege). You will save money because tuition and travel cost will be more expensive in other states. Also by staying closer to home, you will already be familiar with the area. If you are ever homesick, you will have the support of your family and friends.
