Advantages Of Being An American-Born Citizen

Improved Essays
Compared to the lives of many others, that of an American-born citizen is easily much more privileged. Being born into a country with the ringing theme that, “All men are created equal,” with freedom as its headline, and equality in its grasp. While third-world countries are in war, poor conditions, or ruin, we get the luxury of a first-world country. Despite its flaws, America holds many gifts for American-born citizens, giving them a step up the stair of life as opposed to others; this can, again, be good and bad.

To be an individual is to separate yourself from your status quo, and to then build upon that to reach the top of the stairs. While you may have an advantage, it is still up to you to create a life for yourself- Being born is one

At what extent will people go to stray from their advantages, especially when they did not upfront deny them? At what extent will a family man go to betray the trust of his own kin? Where is the line for when lies cloud the truth?

Pride, in small doses, is an okay concept. Be proud of someone else, be proud of yourself, whatever it may be. What is not okay is when the hubris overwhelms the mind and body, taking then its host like a demon possessing a human, or perhaps they were already like that. “Hubris is the gateway through all other sin enters the mortal soul.”

I, no expert myself, have first hand experienced many men of this Earth who have been consumed by their own pride, whether short-term or long-term. Be it a father who believes he is better than his divorcee, relatives who have traded their stable mind for hallucinogens, smoking, or drinking, an unprepared mother. The question I ask is, “why?” and the answer I receive is, “you’ll meet some people in the world you don’t agree

What I learn from them is to not fall for the same devilish habits, to be a better person. I believe the biggest thing I’ve learned is how to be a parent, despite not having any children; moreso from exposure, seeing so many people who lack the ability to care because of hubris.

Unlike them, I will utilize my advantage of being an American-born citizen. Unlike them, I will build a life for myself. I have used the identities of others as examples for an identity of myself. Ridding myself of childish ignorance, in place I have knowledge; immaturity for maturity. To define oneself, to break the family tradition, is what I yearn.

Think about it yourself. How did you build an identity off your American privilege? Did you ever deny the privilege handed to you, or abuse it for your own gain? Or, in turn, have you seen it in others? A transition into a beast of pride, consumed wholly by it. We turn our flaws and experiences into ourselves. Do not stand on the wrong side of the line, and be aware of

Having a lot of pride could be blinding, and it recurrently contributes to an otiose outcome. Individuals put pride into little things accordingly from their judgement for no reason, and get hung up on the values they feel they achieve from them. Peachy and Dan, two ex soldiers and Englishmen, essentially wake up one morning and decide that they are to become kings of Kafiristan. By simply acquiring 20 martini rifles, they go on to train and conquer villages in Kafiristan, until they ultimately become both literal and divine rulers of the country. By simply employing their confidence with their own sense of “self” they manage to convince themselves that what they are about to do is their calling and their duty. To be a natural born or naturalized citizen of the United States is regarded by most as a privilege, because for many immigrants, life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness are best accomplished in this country than those they leave behind. After all, the United States is built on these moral principles, and afforded to anyone willing to exercise these values. On the other hand, America is also built from the tired, sore, and bleeding hands of men, women, and children who, with promises of a better future, liberated themselves from one evil only to be introduced to a different kind of evil, one more oppressing than the one they fled from. How exactly was the ‘great nation’ able to allude such high esteem by countries everywhere, mainly, it’s…

In America, Americans live in a country that allows us to have the freedom of choice, bringing all types of religions, languages, and ethnicities to the United States. If I were to describe our country, I would start off by outlining this country as a place where people abide by the laws and consider questions such as a person’s age, salary, weight, or religion offensive. If a foreigner were to approach an American, the American might take a step away because they like their personal space surrounding them. Also, as a citizen of the United States I have noticed that we are very informal humans who call each other by nicknames, or first name basis, but make sure as a foreigner to shake the American’s right hand, look them in the eyes, and smile,…

The True American’s Self Dignity National Issues Forum (NIF) defines the United States as, “A land of opportunity, a refuge from persecution, and a nation of immigrants.” This quote pertains to the nation because a majority of citizens commenced as immigrants. Time is not taken by others to consider that their predecessors once originated as immigrants and immediately reach for the conclusion that all newcomers are job purloiners who poorly effect the economy. As a result new settlers to the United States begin to feel discouraged by their own community and lose the hope and dignity they once believed they had.…

In fact, I think that just because pride has been labeled a sin that does not mean that it is bad in every single context. Pride came from the word “proud”, which came from the late Old English word meaning “put”, and in French means brave or valiant. According to Merriam Webster’s Dictionary, pride is an emotion that can be two sides of the same coin. On the one side, pride is the product of praise,self-reflection, or a contented feeling of belonging. On the other side, pride can be a dispute with the truth.…

There is a topical ongoing debate in society about whether citizenship is becoming an outdated notion in the 21st century. Citizenship refers to the “state of being vested with the rights, privileges and duties of a citizen” (Dictionary, 2016). In the last century, the concept of citizenship has altered drastically and in addition, there is now more then one type of citizenship in existence. Until the modern era arrived, there were only two types of citizenship; natural born or naturalised. A natural born citizen refers to “a citizen being born in the state and a naturalised citizen is a person whom moved to the country post-birth”…
