Giving care to the sick kids, babies and young adults is what being a pediatric nurse is all about. Many say that little kids look at a pediatric nurse the same way that they “look at a disney princess”(Heuninckx para 1). Children look at you like you are a hero because you are giving them all the attention they need to get better and to stay healthy. Everyday a kid is rushed to the hospital or doctor 's office because they are ill, no matter where they are rushed a pediatric nurse will always be the one to attend to them because they are the ones that know how to act around kids, like nothing bad is going to happen. . When working with children everyone needs to have a positive attitude with them and always needs to have a smile on their …show more content…
There are many great advantages such as finding out that you were able to treat a kid properly and that the parents are happy with the work that you have done, that makes you feel really great. “Another advantage of being a pediatric nurse is being alongside children all day long, reassuring them when they are afraid of medical test or even when they are in the hospital”(Source M). Then there is always a downfall in the job, parents may think you don’t do enough for their kid and then they start saying some mean stuff to you which is an a big disadvantage because it makes people feel bad about themselves. “Dealing with parents that are excessively overbearing can be stressful and can make your emotions run really high”(Source M). Laura leiva says that seeing a kid in pain hurts your heart but knowing that a child is going to die and there is nothing else that you can do for them is probably the biggest disadvantage there is. Watching a child pass away is one of the hardest things that you could go through when being a pediatric nurse, going through that will never be easy on anybody. Being a pediatric nurse can be hard at sometimes but you can’t always have a worried look on your face when you go into see other children you have to have a new attitude for every child you meet with. “Kids are often scared to go to the doctor and it is your job to not make them scared”(Source A). Never show fear, always have a smile on your face even if you know there is bad news. When you have to deliver bad news you should never leave the parents worried, always give them support and let them know that they are not alone and also tell them some of the positives not just all the negatives in whatever it is their child may
