A Career Essay On Becoming A Nurse

To be a Nurse their are many challenges that a nursing student has to face. Not only is a Nurse one of the few real successful jobs but they are one of the few careers that is likely to have a job after college. In my aspects Nursing is not a career but a way of life and many of my sources point that out. Nursing is a career that has its ups and downs but it is one of the most self fulfilling careers out here. How did I know that Nursing was for me? Ever seen I was really little I have always loved to help people because when I would see all types of people smile it would be very rewarding to me. Vicky Martin, she enlightened me on her past experiences as a nurse. Ms. Martin explained that she has been working in the medical filed for the past 40 years and is not planning on retiring any time soon. When asked why she choose this filed she stated, “Its all I ever wanted to do. At a young age that was all I wanted to do.” Naturally wanting to become a Nurse she gave advice to all Nursing students to follow their hearts. Don’t become a nurse if the only thing you’re after is the paycheck because at the end of the day your not going to be happy. Not only does a Nurse have to much of a work load to deal with, but nurses are suppose to have compassion, patience, and be understanding as a profession and it is hard to do all of that for job you don 't like. Ms. Martin gave very clear incite as to what is expected of a nurse when it comes to working and having a family she states, “ I know nurses that work 12 hour shifts and then have to go home to cook and deal with homework for their family.” She makes it perfectly clear that being a Nurse is not just something you can become because you think you can, you have to have a real passion for it and love what you
