Advantages Of Ap Classes

I had taken advantage of an educational opportunity at my high school by enrolling in the advanced placement (AP) classes. I was first introduced to the idea of AP classes during my last year of intermediate school, but despite knowing almost nothing on the subject I was interested in the idea of taking a college level class even before graduating high school. In the hope that I will be able to go further in my education, I took a couple of AP courses during my senior year of high school. By taking the college-level courses while still in high school, I am able to save money by not having to pay for certain college classes in the future and I am able to experience what college class material is like. This shows that not only do I value my education,

“Why I Chose Southwest” As a homeschooled high school senior, I am unable to take Advanced Placement courses, which are college-level classes taken at a high school. Students earn college credits by taking an exam at the end of the year. To remedy this, I decided to register at Southwest Tennessee Community College for dual enrollment classes. I chose Southwest for a multitude of reasons: to complete my high school education, to provide challenging courses in preparation for college, and to grant me college credit. I opted to take Pre Calculus, English Composition, and Anatomy & Physiology this semester.…

Data was collected from high school students who took AP classes and Ap exams. Each college student knows what it is like to constantly worry whether or not the score on the ACT is high enough to get accepted into a school or if certain AP credits will transfer to the school of choice. It’s my junior year of high school, and I had just begun looking at colleges and universities I believed would suit me personally and educationally. Each school was severely critiqued on certain elements they had to offer, such as, majors/minors, clubs and organizations, pre-professional programs, and even extracurricular activities. This was going to be the place I would ultimately spend the next four years of my life, so I needed to make the perfect decision.…

An AP course is associated with strenuous amounts of homework on difficult material where worthy students take part to earn college credit. Now, one course is difficult enough to manage, but multiple courses are impossible to manage. As a result, students that are loading multiple AP courses, 3 or more, are being overworked. The effect of overworking students is counter intuitive to the objective of AP courses, in which they want to challenge the student to help them excel. However, students won’t be working at their full potential if their constantly being bombarded with extremely difficult tasks (Matthews).…

Earning college credits through Post Secondary Enrollment Option (PSEO) is a viable option for many students including myself. I took AP classes in high school and from what I observed, none of the teachers were qualified enough to teach a college course. From my experience, I found that being in a college setting, learning the material hands-on with a professor was far more valuable. Another benefit to PSEO is that it saves students both money and time. If a student were given the choice to spend either $80,000 on four years of tuition versus $40,000 on just two years of tuition with a little more work in high school, I think many students would take advantage of that opportunity.…
