Probability Sampling Method

The recommended non-probability sampling schemes for the commuters’ survey is: convenience sampling method and quota sampling method. This is because commuters regularly travel and the chances of getting them is very low. Convenience method of sampling is recommended because it relies only on the available subjects. Quota sampling method is chosen because commuters are a selection of a sub group from the whole population in the city. Convenience sampling method has many research advantages. First, it is systematic bias. It has errors which arise from its estimation of quantity. It has an even dissimilarity between the results composed from the sample and the results collected from the entire population. Secondly, the sample is not representative of the entire population and finally, it is limited in generalization and inference making concerning the entire population. Quota sampling has two main advantages: Firstly, it allows researchers to sample a small groups from the group that is of most interest to the study. Secondly, it allows the researchers to consider the relationships between the subgroups that they are investigating. Disadvantages of Quota sampling include being totally representative of the population while in some cases it may not. This is because it only takes into account the selected traits of the population to form the subgroups used in sampling. Secondly, other traits may be overrepresented when sampling the subgroups.
